 Contour farming:
Along the natural contours.
Terrain should not be *very* steep.

Terrace farming:
Needs complex construction.
Very steep terrain.

For tomatoes and pulses, well draining loamy soil is good as excess waterlogging causes rot in them. Similarly for cotton(loamy/sandy).

Loamy soil supports the widest variety of crops due to the right balance of nutrients and water drainage.
